Antique & Vintage Postcards

Purple-tone photographic postcard showing the interior courtyard of the Medersa Bou-Anania in Meknes, Morocco -- a 14th-century Marinid Islamic theological college and one of the finest examples of Moroccan Islamic architecture. Every surface is covered in extraordinary decorative detail: intricate geometric zellige tilework at the lower walls, elaborate carved cedar wood screens and stalactite corbels at the intermediate level, and delicate stucco arabesques surrounding the upper arched windows. A sunburst-carved archway frames a darkened niche at center. A robed figure leans over a large circular stone basin in the foreground, completing the timeless scene.
