Saturated with the confident optimism of mid-1960s Australia, this large-format chrome postcard by John Hinde Studios captures Melbourne's City Skyline from a high vantage point, the wide green Yarra River curving in the foreground as scullers glide past in a racing four, while Prince's Bridge — opened 1888, its granite balustrades still immaculate — carries a river of period motorcars and delivery trucks across to Flinders Street Station, whose "preposterous dome" (as the card's own reverse text cheerfully calls it) rises beside the graceful spires of St. Paul's Cathedral, and beyond them a dense thicket of 1960s curtain-wall office towers rises against a cloudless sky, with a large Craven Filter cigarette billboard prominent mid-frame — a period detail that alone places this image squarely in its era.
