Postcard City Hall Cohoes NY 1961 Chrome Used Jessie to Raymond Morrisville

Cohoes, New York, USA1961ChromeGood

Cohoes, New York's robust Romanesque Revival City Hall — built in 1895 of pale limestone with a soaring central clock tower, corner turrets, and arched entry portal — gleams under an artificially saturated chrome-era blue sky, a mid-century American automobile curving past on the street below. On the back, Jessie writes to Raymond in Morrisville with cheerful small-town warmth: she reports that the Graduation was "just beautiful," that she went to the Albany Shopping Center and one in Troy with "Ed and Anna," had supper there, and had "a nice time" — a perfectly preserved vignette of upstate New York summer life in 1961. The card is franked with a U.S. 3¢ Liberty stamp and postmarked Cohoes, June 29, 1961.
