Leningrad USSR Soviet Postcard Set 1967 Chrome 12 Views Palace Cruiser Aurora

Leningrad (Saint Petersburg), Russia1967ChromeExcellent (six postcards)

Twelve vivid glimpses of a city wearing its grandeur with Soviet pride — this complete 1967 boxed set captures Leningrad at the height of the Cold War era, its baroque palaces, broad rivers, and the legendary cruiser Aurora glowing in saturated chrome color. The folder cover presents the city's name in Russian Cyrillic, English, and Spanish, a trilingual flourish hinting at the set's intended reach as a prestige souvenir for foreign visitors and Intourist guests. Inside, photographs by R. Mazelin document Palace Square with its triumphal arch and Alexander Column, a hydrofoil skimming the Neva, and the gun-bristling bow of the Aurora — the ship whose blank shot signaled the 1917 Bolshevik revolution. Design by V. Korpashevich gives each card a clean, confident mid-century aesthetic that feels both official and genuinely beautiful. Published by Sovetsky Khudozhnik ("Soviet Artist") in an edition of 200,000, this set is a time capsule of a city that would reclaim its original name, St. Petersburg, just twenty-four years later.
