Postcard 1905 Scheveningen Netherlands Pier Kurhaus Palace Hotel Pre-Linen

Scheveningen, Netherlands1906Pre-linenExcellent

Strollers in Edwardian finery parade along the grand iron pier at Scheveningen, the fashionable Dutch seaside resort just outside The Hague, as the terracotta-domed Kurhaus hotel commands the horizon — a hand-coloured panorama capturing the resort at the very peak of its Belle Époque glory. The color-lithograph view, published by Weenenk & Snel of Den Haag (series 155, card no. 37019), labels three landmarks across the skyline: the Palace Hotel to the left, the Kurhaus center-stage, and the Hotel Garni to the right. The pier's ornate arched ironwork frames a sweeping perspective toward the beach, crowded with bathing machines and parasols. The Kurhaus itself, opened in 1885 and still standing today, was the social heartbeat of the Dutch coast, hosting royalty and celebrities alike. The card was never posted — the divided back, printed in Dutch with "naam / adres" fields, dates the format to the post-1905 era. The crisp, bright colour lithography is unusually well-preserved, with only minor corner wear.
