The Rhode Island State Capitol's fresh white granite dome anchors the composition, the building barely a year old when cards like this began circulating; surrounding it are the Harbor, Market Square bustling with horse-era commerce, the Boathouse at Roger Williams Park, and the imposing Columbia College Library (today's Providence Public Library annex). A handwritten greeting in flowing copperplate reads "From Corinne" — a personal touch from an Edwardian sender who likely purchased the card at one of the city's new souvenir counters.
