"I am leaving for the states next month... I think I will go to California," WBS wrote from Balboa, Canal Zone in March 1911, mailing this color-tinted view of Panama City's neoclassical Government Palace during the height of the Canal's construction era. Franked with an early Canal Zone overprint stamp, it's a genuine piece of postal history from the years the canal itself was still being dug.
