Antique & Vintage Postcards

The thunder of hooves on The Mall and a sea of upturned faces mark this magnificent color postcard showing the King and Queen of Great Britain processing in the Irish State Coach from Buckingham Palace to the Houses of Parliament — a pageant of imperial splendor frozen at its peak. The Household Cavalry's sovereign escort fills the avenue in scarlet and gold, the gilded coach drawn by white horses at center while crowds press the barriers under the leafy canopy of St. James's Park. Published by the respected E.T.W. Dennis & Sons of London and Scarborough and printed in Great Britain, this unused chrome-style color card captures what the back text calls "a special Session of Parliament" — likely dating to the reign of George V (1910–1936) based on the card's typography and printing style. The card was never mailed, preserving its fresh, vivid colors intact for over a century.
