Black Forest Schwarzwald Germany Novelty Pull-Out Postcard 1961 Cekade

Titisee, Black Forest, Germany1961ChromeGood

Painted in the lush, almost impossibly idyllic palette of postwar German tourism art, a half-timbered mill house nestles beside a rushing mountain stream beneath a wall of dark spruce — the very image of Heimat longing that made the Black Forest the most romanticized landscape in Germany. Three stanzas of the beloved poem "O Schwarzwald, o Heimat" fill a scroll-shaped text panel at the bottom of the front image, their words evoking the dark heights, the sound of millstreams, and a traveler who has seen the wide world but kept the forest in his heart. Beneath the illustrated lower edge, a concertina accordion strip unfolds to reveal crisp black-and-white photographic miniatures of Schwarzwald landmarks: a panoramic "Blick auf Titisee" (view of Lake Titisee), the Feldbergturm tower on the Feldberg (the region's highest peak), and additional winter and landscape scenes. The reverse, printed by Cramers Kunstanstalt KG, Dortmund — celebrating their 60th anniversary — and published under the Cekade imprint, carries the notation "Gruß aus Titisee" (Greetings from Titisee) and is dated by the print code 18/61/5, confirming a 1961 production date. Unused and unaddressed.
