Postcard 1960s Del Lago Restaurant Mexico City Chapultepec Park Chrome Unused

Mexico City, Mexico1965ChromeExcellent

Glowing like a modernist lantern at dusk, the Del Lago Restaurant in Mexico City's Nuevo Bosque de Chapultepec shimmers in its own lake reflection, its dramatic copper-red tensile roof canopy and soaring glass wall catching the last light of a purple evening sky — this is mid-century architecture at its most theatrical, the kind of building that made 1960s international travelers feel the future had finally arrived. Del Lago, designed by architect Félix Candela and opened in 1964 as a showpiece of Mexican modernism, was the capital's most fashionable dining address for the international jet set, described on this card's back as "a must for the international gourmet." The chrome photograph, printed by Litógrafos Unidos of Mexico City, remains vivid and unfaded. Pencil dealer notation "25" verso.
