Postcard Ciudad Juarez Mexico Bridge El Paso Texas Skyline Chrome 1960s

Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico / El Paso, Texas, USA1965ChromeExcellent

From an elevated vantage on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande, the "Puente de la Buena Vecindad" — formerly known as the Lerdo Bridge — sweeps toward the modern skyline of El Paso, Texas, its overpass bustling with the boxy American cars of the early 1960s while a yellow bus navigates the foreground streets of Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. The Franklin Mountains rise unmistakably in the background above El Paso's downtown towers, providing one of the most recognizable border panoramas in North America. Photographer Roberto López Díaz captured this vivid binational scene for Roberto Studio, a Juárez commercial photography firm based at 20 de Noviembre No. 3909; the Vistacolor lithographic imprint places production firmly in the mid-to-late 1960s. The handwritten "25" on the back likely indicates a dealer price or inventory mark. The scene documents a border crossing that would see seismic political and social transformation in the decades that followed.
