Postcard Hancock-Clarke House Lexington MA Colonial Revival Valentine Souvenir

Lexington, Massachusetts, USA1910Pre-linenExcellent

Where Paul Revere's midnight ride reached its urgent destination, the Hancock-Clarke House in Lexington, Massachusetts stands as one of the most consequential addresses in American Revolutionary history — it was here, on April 19, 1775, that Revere warned Samuel Adams and John Hancock that British troops were marching, igniting the first shots of the Revolution at nearby Lexington Green. This lovely hand-colored card by the Valentine-Souvenir Co. captures the gambrel-roofed, clapboard colonial structure bathed in warm amber tones, its modest but dignified facade flanked by a massive elm at left and neighboring colonial structures at right. The card is unused, with a clean bright back carrying only a pencil dealer notation.
