Postcard 1900s Granada Spain Alhambra Pull-Out Leporello Souvenir Novel

Granada, Spain1905Pre-linenGood

A hand-tinted panoramic cover in warm ochres and terracotta tiles sweeps across the hilltop silhouette of the Alhambra palace complex above the rooftops of Granada — and concealed behind a small brass clasp-and-eyelet fastener is an accordion-folded leporello strip of black-and-white photographic miniatures tucked inside. Views unfurl to reveal the Puerta Judiciaria Interior (the Gate of Justice, with a lone figure dwarfed beneath its horseshoe arch), the Patio de los Arrayanes (Court of the Myrtles), the Patio de los Leones (Court of the Lions), and further intimate Nasrid palace interiors — a remarkable time-capsule of the Alhambra before mass tourism transformed it. The cover itself is a colour-printed postcard issued as printed matter (Impresos / Imprimé) sold by Ricardo Torres at his antiquities and Old Curiosity Shop at Calle Gomerez 19, Granada, the very street leading up to the Alhambra's main gate, and pencilled inventory number "No. 332" appears on the reverse. Never mailed; no stamp or message present.
