Antique & Vintage Postcards

Bathed in the warm amber light of a New England afternoon, the Northbridge Town Hall rises from its granite retaining wall in Whitinsville, Massachusetts — a handsome Italianate brick landmark with white Classical pilasters, arched windows, and a pedimented facade that speaks quietly of civic ambition in a mill-town made prosperous by the Whitin Machine Works. Mature elms arch overhead, and a stop sign peeks from the lower left, rooting the scene firmly in the late 1960s. Published by Yankee Colour Corp. of Southboro, Mass., this chrome-era card is a crisp documentary record of a building that defined the heart of New England's largest mill village. The reverse is unused, copyright-dated 1968.
