Postcard RPPC 1910 Japanese Women Kimono Garden Hawaii Real Photo Rare

Hawaii, USA (probable)1910RPPCGood

Two young women in elegant kimonos sit serenely on a sunlit lawn amid towering banana palms, bird-of-paradise plants, and tropical fronds in this luminous real-photo postcard tentatively identified as Hawaii, circa 1910 — a rare and evocative document of Japanese immigrant community life in the early territorial period. The woman on the left wears a light floral kimono with a hibiscus flower tucked behind her ear; the woman on the right wears a richly patterned kimono with a wide obi, and smiles gently at the camera. The tropical vegetation — bananas, palms, what appears to be heliconia — is consistent with Hawaii or possibly the Philippines or another Pacific location, but the penciled dealer notation on the reverse reads "Hawaii? 1910." The card was never mailed and carries no message; the undivided address area with "Correspondence / Name and Address" layout is consistent with the 1907–1915 RPPC era. The photograph has the quality of a professional studio or garden portrait, suggesting these women may have been photographed as tourist souvenirs or for community documentation. Japanese immigrant women in kimono in a tropical garden setting from this era are exceedingly scarce in the postcard market.
