Antique & Vintage Postcards

Saturated in the vivid hues of mid-century chrome printing, this postcard captures Dealey Plaza at the west entrance to Dallas, Texas — a sun-drenched swath of green lawn, ornamental pergolas, and the brick skyline that became forever seared into American memory on November 22, 1963. The Texas School Book Depository is visible at the far left, its upper right-hand window the point from which President John F. Kennedy was shot as his motorcade wound through the plaza below. The reverse carries unusually blunt publisher's text naming Lee Harvey Oswald by name and noting his burial "in East Fort Worth," as well as the wounding of Texas Governor John by rifle fire — a postcard that is as much a historical document as a souvenir, produced and sold in the immediate aftermath of one of the most consequential moments of the 20th century.
