Postcard Malletts Bay Lake Champlain VT Chrome Aerial View 1960s

Malletts Bay, Vermont, USA1965ChromeExcellent

Shimmering in saturated mid-century chrome color, this aerial view of Malletts Bay sweeps across one of Lake Champlain's most scenic arms — sailboats and motorboats dotting the deep blue water like confetti, a wooded drumlin peninsula dividing the bay, and the broad expanse of Lake Champlain stretching to the horizon beyond. Malletts Bay, situated just west of U.S. Routes 2 and 7 about eight miles north of Burlington, Vermont, was a beloved summer destination for campers, sailors, and vacationers, and the card's reverse captures that spirit in descriptive prose: "all types of water sports, as well as golf, tennis, and dancing." The photograph, by Frank L. Forward and published by Forward's Color Productions of Manchester, Vermont, captures the bay at peak summer vitality. A dealer's penciled price notation "EL 1–" appears in the upper right of the reverse, a common sight in mid-century postcard dealer stock. Card no. VT.819 with print run number 118922.
