Antique & Vintage Postcards

A rosy-cheeked Danish girl in a mint-green dress holds the scarlet Dannebrog flag aloft — and hidden inside this charming "Hilsen fra Kolding" (Greetings from Kolding) novelty postcard is a delightful secret: a pull-out accordion leporello strip of miniature real-photo views of the city, including the Torvet (town square), De Gamle Hjem (the old home), Kirken (the church), and a maypole scene. Kolding is a historic market town in southern Jutland, Denmark, home to the medieval Koldinghus castle, and these tiny fold-out photographs capture its civic landmarks in atmospheric sepia. This type of "mechanical" greetings card — where the envelope-style front opens to reveal a concertina of local views — was enormously popular across Scandinavia and Germany in the 1905–1920 period. The card is unused and retains its full leporello insert in fair-good condition, with some edge wear and separation to the outer cover noted at the corner.
