Antique & Vintage Postcards

Austere and magnificent in silver-toned photographic detail, this early French carte postale brings the massive drum towers and conical slate roofs of Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire right to your fingertips — the entrance gateway (Porte d'Entrée) rendered with a sharpness that rivals standing before the portcullis itself. Chaumont, one of the great Loire Valley châteaux steeped in royal intrigue — Catherine de Medici called it home — appears here in its brooding, pre-war grandeur, the stone coursing and decorative friezes of the 15th–16th century fortress clearly legible. Published under the "LL" (Lévy & Fils, Paris) imprint as card no. 9 in a Chaumont series, this is a classic early-1900s French photographic postcard printed on sturdy carte postale stock. The reverse is entirely unused — no message, no address — with a clean divided-back layout that places production circa 1905–1910.
