A magnificent black-and-white hen holds proud court over four fluffy yellow chicks in a barn-straw nest, one chick already perched atop a freshly cracked egg in this richly embossed, gold-bordered Edwardian Easter card — the color printing is deep and lustrous, the gilded frame lending a quality that speaks to German chromolithographic printing at its finest circa 1908–1912. Sent (undated beyond the postcard era itself) by someone signing as "Mary" to "Miss H. Sly" at an address simply noted as "Village," this card carries no stamp and appears either hand-delivered or kept as a keepsake. The back is beautifully embossed in relief with floral motifs matching the Easter theme, the divided-back format and stamp box noting "United States and Canada, One Cent / Foreign, Two Cents" anchoring it to the 1907–1915 window.
