Postcard 1913 RPPC M. Müller Geestemünde Horse Delivery Wagon Germany

Geestemünde (now Bremerhaven), Germany1913RPPCFair

Caught in the crisp grey light of an early February morning in 1913, a driver bundled against the cold perches atop a covered delivery wagon emblazoned "M. Müller — Geestemünde" — the horse pawing at the frozen ground before a row of weathered storefronts somewhere in northern Germany, making this rare real-photo postcard (RPPC) a vivid slice of commercial street life just before the world changed forever. Geestemünde was a bustling North Sea port town (later absorbed into Bremerhaven) known for its fishing trade and maritime commerce; a local tradesman named M. Müller apparently commissioned or received this photograph as a record of his horse-drawn delivery operation. The card was mailed from Geestemünde on February 2, 1913, addressed to "Herrn Rudolf" aboard the S.S. Prinz Irehne (likely S.S. Prinz Irene, a North German Lloyd liner) care of Genoa, Italy — suggesting the recipient was a seafaring man whose mail chased him port to port across the Mediterranean.
