Postcard 1909 Munich Löwenbräukeller Bayern Germany 5pf Stamp Posted

Munich, Germany1909Pre-linenFair-Good

Sent from Munich on the evening of November 7, 1909 — the postmark stamps it precisely at the 5–6 o'clock hour — this vivid hand-colored real-photo-style card captures the magnificent Löwenbräukeller beer hall on Stiglmaierplatz in all its Historicist architectural glory: a castle-like stone façade crowned by a soaring multi-colored tiled spire, flanked by rounded turrets with green copper roofs, a rampant lion sculpture presiding over the arched entrance, and a diagonal yellow-and-black Bavarian pennant snapping in the breeze. Two women in traditional Bavarian dress — richly colored dirndls — stand in conversation at the lower left, grounding the grand building in its lived, festive context. The sender, writing in German Kurrent script, conveys greetings and mentions a "großer Ausdruck" (great expression), signing off warmly. A Bayern 5 Pfennig green stamp (Scott #64 type) ties the card firmly to its pre-WWI Wilhelmine-era moment, just four years before the old world this card depicts would be swept away forever.
