Postcard 1910s Night-Blooming Cereus Cactus Flower Hand-Colored RPPC Rare

United States (likely)1915RPPCGood

Opening only after dark for a single breathtaking night, the night-blooming cereus cactus erupts here in a luminous close-up — the creamy white outer petals fanning like a star around a corona of vivid hand-applied yellow stamens, the entire inner chamber a silvery forest of pistils captured with striking botanical intimacy. This is a genuine Real Photo Postcard (RPPC), the glossy photographic emulsion still rich, the hand-coloring applied with a careful brush to highlight the yellow ring and the single green leaf at right — a painstaking technique common to Japanese and American botanical photo postcards of the 1910s. The RPPC back format reads simply "POST CARD / CORRESPONDENCE / ADDRESS / PLACE STAMP HERE," a style consistent with American AZO or similar stamp-box printing of approximately 1910–1920. The penciled "4-" in the upper right corner suggests a dealer's old price notation. No publisher identification is present, making this likely a locally produced or small-studio botanical card — a category increasingly prized by collectors of botanical photography and early hand-colored RPPCs alike.
