Postcard 1910s Wiesbaden Germany Hotel Nassau Kurhaus Flower Garden Color

Wiesbaden, Germany1910Pre-linenGood

A warm amber sunset glows behind the grand Hotel Nassau and the elegant Kurhaus of Wiesbaden in this beautifully tinted early color halftone postcard — fashionable spa-goers in long skirts stroll the manicured flower garden while a period electric tram glides past the ornate Jugendstil façade at right, capturing the gilded-age leisure culture of Germany's most celebrated thermal resort town at its Edwardian peak. The card was mailed by a French-speaking sender named Renot (or Perrot), who writes warmly in cursive French across the divided back, apologizing for being hard to reach, mentioning famous hot springs ("ces fameux bouillons"), wishing to stay in bed until 9 or 10 o'clock, and congratulating the recipient on a sibling's upcoming wedding — a charming, intimate slice of Belle Époque correspondence. The image shows the Bowling-green (Blumengarten) view toward the Nassau Hotel, labeled in German, French, and English on the reverse.
