Antique & Vintage Postcards

The grand Baroque dome of Vienna's Kunsthistorisches Museum crowns this early hand-colored view, with the imposing Maria Theresien Monument — depicting the great Empress on her throne, flanked by her field marshals — commanding the foreground on the wide Ringstraße plaza, a scene that encapsulates the Imperial grandeur of Franz Joseph's Vienna at its cosmopolitan peak. The warm ochre and teal toning of this circa-1910 card gives the monumental architecture an almost theatrical glow that later chrome cards could never quite replicate. The reverse is entirely unused, its split-back format clean and unbent, making this a strong example for a topographic Vienna or Habsburg collector.
