Postcard Vienna Schönbrunn Palace Great Gallery Baroque Hall Austria Unused

Vienna, Austria1965ChromeGood

A jaw-dropping expanse of Rococo splendor stretches the full length of Schönbrunn Palace's Great Gallery — the Große Galerie — its gilded pilasters, crystal chandeliers, and twin ceiling frescoes by Gregorio Guglielmi (restored after WWII damage) all captured in a warm chrome photograph that conveys the sheer scale of the room where Mozart played for Empress Maria Theresa in 1762 and where the Congress of Vienna famously danced in 1815. Published by Fotoverlag A. Kellner of Vienna with a decorative scalloped border typical of mid-century Austrian production, this unused card retains vivid color. The back notes "Verwenden Sie das billige Grußporto!" (Use the cheap greeting rate!) — a charming period detail of Austrian postal economy.
