RPPC Postcard 1929 Scheibbs Schlosshof Castle Courtyard Austria Lower Austria

Scheibbs, Lower Austria, Austria1929RPPCGood

Framed by a sweeping stone archway, the tranquil courtyard of the Scheibbs Schlosshof invites the viewer beneath dappled light and the outstretched canopy of a great linden tree — one of the most evocative architectural real-photo postcards to survive from interwar Austria. The Schloss (castle) at Scheibbs in Lower Austria retains its Renaissance arcaded galleries visible at the rear, the whole scene captured with expert compositional skill. Postmarked Scheibbs on 25 October 1929 — just days before the great Wall Street Crash would begin reshaping the world — this card was sent to Fräulein Berta in Vienna, carrying an Austrian 10 Groschen stamp from the young First Republic, and a message dense with personal news written in elegant Kurrent script across every available surface.
