This card traveled a notable imperial route: postmarked in Vienna on 25 November 1900, it crossed over the Alps to reach Adolf, an engineer living on the via Lazzaretto Vecchio in Triest (Trieste), then a major port city of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The handwritten message, crowding the image side as was common on undivided-back cards, speaks warmly to a "lieben Freund" (dear friend), closing with "herzlichen Grüssen" — heartfelt greetings.
