Postcard 1950s Austria Bad Tatzmannsdorf Kurpark Chrome Used Wien Stamp

Bad Tatzmannsdorf, Burgenland, Austria1958ChromeGood

Sun-dappled and serene, this mid-century chrome postcard captures the famous Kurpark (spa park) of Bad Tatzmannsdorf in the Burgenland region of Austria — palm trees swaying improbably over flower-bordered benches where well-dressed cure guests take the air, a woman in a teal coat strolling the promenade while others cluster in cheerful conversation. Known as "Das Herz- und Frauen-Heilbad" (The Heart and Women's Spa), Bad Tatzmannsdorf was one of postwar Austria's most fashionable health resorts, drawing visitors seeking cardiac and gynecological spa treatments. The card was mailed from the resort itself and addressed to "Herrn Erich" in Vienna X, Pernersdorferstraße, carrying a 30 Groschen Austrian definitives stamp and the resort's distinctive cancellation slogan promoting its healing waters. A warm, personal message from someone called "Johann" and companions closes with "herzliche Grüsse" — heartfelt greetings.
