Postcard 1900s France Paris Gare du Nord La Gare du Nord B&W Unused CPA

Paris, France1902Pre-linenGood

Horse-drawn carriages jostle for position outside one of Europe's grandest railway terminals in this evocative early 1900s black-and-white real-photograph postcard of Paris's Gare du Nord — Jacques Hittorff's colossal neoclassical façade filling the frame, its eight allegorical female statues gazing serenely over the bustle of coachmen, porters, and early motorized vehicles below, tram rails gleaming in the foreground. The Gare du Nord was already the gateway to Northern Europe, serving trains to London, Brussels, and Amsterdam, and this undivided-back carte postale captures it at the precise moment the Belle Époque was in full flower — gaslight still competing with electricity, horses with the first automobiles. The back is entirely unused, with the classic French "Ce côté est exclusivement reservé à l'adresse" undivided format, dating this card firmly to before 1904.
