RPPC Postcard 1950s Edif Loteria Nacional Mexico City Art Deco Skyscraper

Mexico City, Mexico1950RPPCGood

Towering against a dramatic cloud-streaked sky, the Edificio de la Lotería Nacional in Mexico City commands the frame with its stepped Art Deco mass — a monument to mid-century Mexican modernism designed by José A. Cuevas and completed in 1946, here photographed in crisp real-photo format with a proud equestrian statue anchoring the foreground roundabout and vintage automobiles streaking the boulevard below. The Lotería Nacional building is one of Mexico City's most architecturally significant mid-century structures, blending neoclassical grandeur with the vertical ambition of the machine age, and RPPC views of it from this era are relatively uncommon among U.S. collectors. The reverse is blank and unused, a "Tarjeta Postal" with a Sello (stamp) box unfilled, suggesting this was purchased as a souvenir rather than mailed.
