Postcard Fabrica de Vidrio Cristales de Chihuahua Glass Factory Juarez Mexico Chrome

Ciudad Juárez, Mexico1965ChromeExcellent

A vivid promotional souvenir from the border town of Ciudad Juárez, this chrome-era multiview card showcases the Cristales de Chihuahua glass factory — a beloved tourist stop for El Paso day-trippers and Mexico-bound travelers alike. The upper-left panel captures the Art Deco-influenced storefront of Fábrica de Vidrio glowing with neon at dusk, its sign proudly proclaiming "Cd. Juárez, Chih. Mexico." Opposite it, a rainbow of colored glass lanterns — amber, cobalt, ruby, and emerald — stand in a proud row. Below, a glassblower works hunched over a molten gather, his craft unchanged for centuries, while the final panel displays the finished wares: blown-glass swans, elephants, pitchers, and a charming figurine in a wide-brimmed hat. This factory at 1500 E. 16th de Septiembre Ave. was a fixture of mid-century border tourism, drawing visitors curious about the "Old World Art" of hand-blown glass. An unposted example in excellent collector condition.
