Postcard 1962 Montreal Canada's Metropolis RCMP Mountie Chrome Niagara ON

Montreal, Quebec, Canada1962ChromeGood

An RCMP Mountie in full scarlet serge sits astride a gleaming black horse at the Mount Royal Lookout, the entire sweep of Montreal's mid-century skyline unrolling below — the St. Lawrence River glinting in the distance, the Jacques Cartier Bridge faintly visible — in this bold chrome-era promotional card that epitomizes how Canada marketed itself to postwar tourists. Postmarked Niagara Falls, Ontario, September 25, 1962, the card traveled south to Jackson, Mississippi, where a traveler named Nannie wrote warmly to Laura: "Having a wonderful time, wish you were with us. Well be home soon — take a peek at my house sometime. Love you, Nannie." The view was photographed by Eddie Parsons and Jack Wexler from Mount Royal Lookout and printed in the USA for Souvenir Agencies, 1239 Bleury Street, Montreal. Franked with a Canadian 4¢ Queen Elizabeth II "Karsh" stamp in violet.
