Postcard Versailles Grand Trianon Napoleon Bedroom Color View c1905 France

Versailles, France1905Pre-linenGood

Step inside the intimate sleeping chamber where Napoleon once rested at the Palais du Grand-Trianon — a jewel-box room draped in blue-and-gold Empire silk, anchored by a gilded day-bed of severe Neoclassical elegance and watched over by twin monumental red-and-black vases. The hand-tinted color brings the room vividly to life: the pale aqua silk wall covering dotted with gold medallions, the crystal chandelier catching light above, the warm honey tones of the parquet floor. Two carved Empire chairs flank the bed's left side, and a tall-case clock stands sentinel near the mirrored door — details that speak to the precise, controlled aesthetic Napoleon brought to every space he occupied. This card, published by the celebrated French house ND Phot (Neurdein & Cie), is a classic of the golden age of French view cards, No. 13 in their Versailles interior series. The back carries a handwritten signature in blue ink — a previous owner's mark of pride.
