Lubo, the artistic Metz photographer, captured this tranquil scene with a painterly eye, the classical colonnade ruins in the background and overhanging trees framing the composition in romantic shadow. On the reverse, in the same educated hand as companion card PC-02819, the writer continues his account of a German military parade through Metz: thousands of marching boots strike the pavement "gleichmäßig und hart" (evenly and hard), the Metz citizens gape open-mouthed at the spectacle, and cavalry follows the infantry before field artillery passes — "lauter schöne gleiche braune Nieder". The military censor stamp "Visa Metz n° 742" again appears, tying this card to the same sender, Franz, and the same Artillery Regiment 262 as PC-02818 and PC-02819 — a remarkable three-card correspondence set.
