Postcard c1915 Main Street Tijuana Mexico Horses Flags Pre-Linen Eno

Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico1915Pre-linenFair-Good

A dusty frontier Main Street frozen in time — this exceptionally rare early view of Tijuana, Mexico, circa 1910–1918, shows the border town's unpaved main drag lined with false-front wooden buildings, Mexican tri-color flags snapping in the breeze, horse-drawn carriages and early automobiles sharing the dirt road, and clusters of men in period dress going about their day long before Tijuana became a modern city. The warm hand-colored sky — that signature golden-peach of early Western postcards — and the multiple Mexican flags prominently displayed give the image a vivid, almost cinematic quality. Published by I.L. Eno, 958 5th St., San Diego, California, catalog no. R-33365, this is a Made in USA production from a publisher who specialized in early Baja California border imagery, making it a prized find for collectors of both Mexican and California ephemera. Reverse is unused, clean, with penciled dealer price of $1.25.
