Drenched in the lush tropical color of a Jalisco afternoon, this chrome postcard captures the children's wading pool at the Hotel Camino Real in Guadalajara — a mid-century modern resort jewel that opened in 1967 and quickly became the prestige address for international travelers and Mexico City businessmen visiting the Pearl of the West. Three children in matching burnt-orange swimsuits wade in the shallow kidney-shaped pool while an adult attendant stands at poolside; behind them, a cascading wall of magenta bougainvillea frames the low modernist hotel block, and mature shade trees form a cathedral canopy overhead. The Camino Real Guadalajara was designed by architect Alejandro Zohn and is considered a landmark of Mexican modernism.
