Postcard 1933 Norsk Folkemuseum Berdalsstabburet Nesland Telemark Norway RPPC

Oslo, Norway (Norsk Folkemuseum)1933RPPCExcellent

Standing like a fairy-tale storehouse deep in a cathedral of Norwegian spruce, the Berdalsstabburet — an ornately carved two-story timber stabbur (raised granary) from Nesland in Telemark — anchors this crisp, gelatin-silver real-photo postcard published for Oslo's Norsk Folkemuseum in 1933. The building's geometric chip-carved panels, dragon-head corner timbers, and sturdy log-pile foundation represent the pinnacle of Norwegian vernacular woodcraft; the museum relocated it from the Numedal/Telemark region to preserve it for posterity. A someone (perhaps a collector or dealer) has penciled "Norway(?)" on the reverse — unnecessary, given the unambiguous Norwegian caption — and the card was never sent, leaving the stamp box empty. Issued under exclusive rights ("Eneberettiget 1933") with catalogue reference N.F. Nr. 121, it is a sharp, museum-quality specimen of Scandinavian architectural documentation photography.
