Antique & Vintage Postcards

The Mur River gleams silver-grey beneath a handsome iron bridge as the forested Schlossberg dominates the skyline of Graz — the famous clock tower crowning the right flank of the hill, a baroque church steeple rising in the middle distance, and a grand historicist civic building anchoring the right bank. This beautifully composed real-photo card, dated 14 October 1948 in Graz, carries a charming personal note signed "Papperl" — an Austrian pet-name suggesting childhood affection — addressed simply "Mein Lieber!" with warmest greetings. The 20-Groschen Austrian Republic stamp depicts a woman in traditional Vorarlberg Montafon costume, part of the beloved postwar Regional Costumes series.
