Antique & Vintage Postcards

Nestled in a forested Lower Austrian valley, the village of St. Aegyd am Neuwald basks in summer light — a cluster of whitewashed houses, tiled roofs, and the onion-domed parish church reflected in a still pond in the foreground, with wooded mountain slopes rising beyond. This real-photo postcard conveys the serene charm of an interwar Austrian market village little changed since the 19th century. The reverse bears a minimal message in blue-violet ink addressed to "Marianne Martinek, b/Hofm. Stückelberger, Hermagor 134, Kärnten," with an Austrian 7-Groschen stamp — dating the card to the early First Republic period after currency stabilization. Again a member of the Martinek correspondence network, here apparently visiting or staying in Carinthia.
