Three men haul a magnificent silvery tuna up on a hanging scale at a Barbados beach — muscles straining, a wide straw hat tilted skyward — in this vivid chrome-era card that captures the raw, sun-drenched energy of Caribbean deep-sea fishing culture in the early 1970s. Published under the "Antilles Radieuses / The Enchanting Caribbean" series by Hachette-Antilles and printed in France by Mexichrome, the card was mailed from Barbados on 4 April 1973, sent by a retiree named Dorsey and his companion Wilma to the Sales Department of Allstate Insurance in Kansas City, Missouri — a touching thank-you note for a retirement party dashed off mid-cruise: "Thank you all for retirement party & everything. You are the greatest. Got to go." The Barbados 15c stamp depicting Sharon Moravian Church is a collectible definitive from the early Elizabeth II era. The card shows handling wear and surface creasing consistent with its age but retains strong color.
