Postcard c.1910 Germany Trollius Globeflower Flora Series Pre-Linen Unused

Dresden, Germany (published)1910Pre-linenFair-Good

A luminous cluster of globe flowers — Trollius europaeus, the European trollflower — blazes in rich amber-gold against a pale studio ground in this early 20th-century natural-color photo postcard from the celebrated "Flora" series by Römmler & Jonas of Dresden, Germany, one of the premier color-from-nature postcard publishers of the Wilhelmine era. The Naturfarben-Phot (natural-color photograph) process Römmler & Jonas pioneered allowed them to produce botanical cards of unusual fidelity at a time when hand-tinted images were the norm; Series "Flora" No. 123 is a fine example, with the Latin name Trollius europaeus — Trollblume printed neatly on the reverse. Never mailed, the card retains its original texture and color vibrancy despite some age toning and surface waviness typical of cards stored for over a century. Botanical postcard collectors and Römmler & Jonas enthusiasts will recognize this as a desirable pre-linen specimen from a sought-after Dresden publisher.
