Antique & Vintage Postcards

A lush crimson cyclamen blazes against a muted grey studio ground — its reflexed petals caught mid-flourish above marbled foliage wrapped in a cheerful lime-green satin bow, the whole composition radiating the genteel gifting culture of Wilhelmine Germany. Cyclamen persicum, the Persian alpine violet, was a beloved winter houseplant across Central Europe in the early twentieth century, and publishers rushed to meet demand for botanical greeting cards that could carry a wordless token of warmth. This unused example retains crisp colour and an unblemished message side, catalogued as Fl. 162 in an as-yet unattributed series.
