Antique & Vintage Postcards

A towering timber polder windmill commands a flat Dutch landscape in this richly textured art-reproduction postcard — warm ochre reeds crowd a glassy canal, distant mills punctuate the horizon, and a clouded sky presses down with the weight of a Northern European afternoon, all rendered in the loose impressionistic brushwork of an early-twentieth-century Dutch landscape painter whose partially legible lower-left monogram awaits scholarly confirmation. Printed in Switzerland by the SYF imprint (No. 27), this high-quality chromolithographic art card belongs to a collector series reproducing Dutch genre paintings at a moment when the "Oilette"-style art postcard was at its commercial peak across Europe, roughly 1905–1920. The reverse is completely blank and unused, the stock carrying the fine linen-weave embossing that Swiss printers favored. A price notation of "007" — likely a dealer's pencil mark — appears in the stamp box.
