Antique & Vintage Postcards

A hauntingly detailed copper-engraving reproduction brings the Baroque spa village of Wildbad Adelholzen vividly to life — tidy bath houses, a steepled chapel, kitchen gardens, and vineyard terraces rendered with meticulous cross-hatching as they appeared in 1687. Adelholzen, nestled in the Chiemgau foothills of Upper Bavaria, was already celebrated for its mineral springs long before this bird's-eye view was committed to print by the engraver Erl; today those same springs feed the well-known Adelholzener mineral water brand. The postcard, published by Joseph Käser's Graphische Kunstanstalt in Wasserburg am Inn, reproduces the engraving faithfully and carries the caption Wildbad Adelholzen 1687 nach Erl on the front. It was never mailed, preserving it in fine condition for collectors of Bavarian topographica and early spa history.
