Antique & Vintage Postcards

Mexico City's most beloved landmark gleams gold in the afternoon light — the Ángel de la Independencia rises from its roundabout on Paseo de la Reforma while a swirl of orange VW Beetles and vintage buses orbit below, and a sleek modernist glass tower (the Hotel Presidente, under construction or newly completed) dominates the left frame, perfectly dating this chrome card to the early 1960s. Sent on 16 February 1963 by a traveller named "Geo" — spending her birthday in Mexico with a friend — to Peg and Pete in Rochester, New York, the card carries a warm invitation: "wish you were here with us … visit in the summer would like to see you again." Postmarked Taxco/Acapulco corridor (Servicio Aéreo, 27 Feb 1963), franked with a scarlet 80-centavo correo aéreo stamp depicting the Estadio Olímpico.
