Antique & Vintage Postcards

Warm amber and terracotta tones wash across this artist-rendered view of Nuremberg's medieval Fünfeckturm — the "Fivecornered Tower" — one of the great sandstone bulwarks of the city's ancient fortification ring, here depicted with a companion tower and the rooflines of the Altstadt tumbling beneath it amid autumn-leafed trees. The image is reproduced after a watercolor or gouache composition signed in the lower right corner by an artist identified as Gossmann, '06, with a second line indicating publication in Munich — placing this firmly in the tradition of German Kunstpostkartenverlag (art postcard publishing) that flourished in the first decade of the 20th century. The reverse is completely blank save for the printed legend "Nuremberg, Fivecornered tower" — the English-language caption suggesting this card was produced for the international tourist and export market. No stamp, no postmark, no message; the card has never been used. The image quality is excellent, the stock heavy and clean.
