Antique & Vintage Postcards

Eight jewels of Austria arrayed across one chrome postcard under the banner Schönes Österreich — "Beautiful Austria" — the Mirabellgarten of Salzburg ablaze with red roses, the majestic Stephansdom dominating Vienna's skyline, the alpine Maria-Theresien-Straße of Innsbruck backed by snowy peaks, Maria Wörth reflected in the turquoise Wörther See of Carinthia, the lakeside castle of Schloß Ort am Traunsee, sailboats on an Upper Austrian lake, the medieval Grazer Uhrturm clock tower, the snow-capped Großglockner (Austria's highest peak at 3,798 m), and the magnificent baroque Stift Melk abbey commanding its Danube clifftop. Ed, M.J., and Mike sent this to Mr. and Mrs. Shope in Altoona, Pennsylvania around Christmas, raving about walking, shopping, eating, and sightseeing — though noting it was cold! Two Austrian definitive stamps frank the card, one depicting Stift Vorau and one Stift Zwettl.
