Postcard 1970s Kitzbühel Austria Alpine Panorama Chrome Tirol Summer View

Kitzbühel, Tirol, Austria1975ChromeGood

A sweeping summer panorama unfolds across this chrome view of Kitzbühel, the legendary Tyrolean resort town nestled in a sun-drenched valley ringed by the jagged limestone peaks of the Kitzbüheler Alps — green meadows tumbling toward a cluster of red-roofed chalets, the white tower of the parish church anchoring the townscape against mountains still dusted with snow at their summits. The sender, writing to young Jimmy in Elgin, Illinois, described the breathtaking mountain scenery — the beauty of the valley — and mentioned the Austrian climate and their time in Nevada (possibly a side-trip reference), the handwriting looping warmly across the card. Kitzbühel had already become world-famous by this era for the Hahnenkamm downhill ski race, though this summer-season view shows its quieter pastoral face. The Austrian definitive stamp depicting a historic Innsbruck-area building completes the quintessentially Tyrolean presentation.
