Antique & Vintage Postcards

Vienna's grandest boulevard unfurls in tinted halftone glory — the Ringstraße at its Franzensring stretch, with the Hellenic colonnade of the Austrian Parliament gleaming at left, the neo-Gothic spires of the Rathaus piercing the pale sky behind it, and the leafy promenade of the Volksgarten stretching into the warm distance. Produced in the golden age of Austrian picture-postcard printing (circa 1905–1915), this hand-tinted collotype captures the Ringstraße as Emperor Franz Joseph intended it: a theatre of civic magnificence. The undivided or early-divided back (plain, no publisher text) and the subtle teal-to-amber sky gradient are hallmarks of the earliest colour lithography runs from Vienna's prolific postcard publishers of the Wilhelmine era. The Parliament's Athena Fountain, installed in 1902, is just visible at the forecourt — helping date the image post-1902.
